Dental Sealants ,

Dental sealants are a preventive dental treatment used to seal the teeth and act like a barrier to prevent cavities. A plastic material is placed in the pits and fissures of the molars and premolars to prevent bacteria from growing in these hard to clean areas. At Pure Dental Health we offer dental sealants to our patients to help protect their teeth from decay. While flossing and brushing are extremely important to oral health, they only help to remove food particles and plaque from the smooth surfaces of the teeth. However, toothbrush bristles are too large to reach into the grooves and depressions of the molars to remove food and plaque. Dental sealants protect these vulnerable spots in the teeth by sealing out damaging plaque and bacteria.

Dental sealants are easy for dentists to apply, pain free, and require no down time from patients. After the teeth have been thoroughly cleaned, the sealant is painted onto the tooth enamel and then hardened with a curing light so that it bonds directly to the tooth. The special plastic material seeps into the tiny fissures and grooves of the chewing surfaces, forming a tight barrier against harmful substances in the mouth. As long as the dental sealant remains in place the tooth will be protected from decay. Dr. Justin Scott will examine the sealants to make sure they have bonded properly, and he will check to make sure they are still properly in place at subsequent dental visits. Dental sealants can last for two to four years before a reapplication is necessary, making them both affordable and worth the expense.

At Pure Dental Health, Dr. Scott and his entire team are committed to proving the highest standard in dental care. Using dental sealants as an advanced preventive dental procedure, he can offer protection against damaging plaque, bacteria, and decay.
