What is CEREC and Why is it Important?

At Pure Dental, we use the latest and most technologically advanced equipment. CEREC stands for Ceramic Reconstruction and is a sophisticated system of designing and making high-quality dental restorations in one patient visit. Developed by Sirona, CEREC utilizes 3D photography and CAD/CAM technology to assist a dentist in designing a virtual restoration (onlay, inlay, crown, or bridge) without taking impressions and, when combined with a milling unit, is able to build the actual restoration while you are still in the chair.

Sure, it’s cool. But more important, and the one driving our decision to have one, was the value to you. In addition to cutting down on the number of visits and the time interval of waiting to get back from an outside lab, there’s no need for messy impressions, and there’s no need to wear a temporary crown for two weeks (that could possibly crack or break and result in even more office visits!). This all translates to savings of money and time for you.

Save Time, Smile Right – Same Day Crowns from Pure Dental

You can have a new, white dental crown the same day when you choose Pure Dental Health as your dental care provider. We offer CEREC dental crowns that can be designed and created during one visit to our office. Our experienced dental team headed by Dr. Justin Scott provides all our patients with the best dental care available for our patients from Sandy Springs, Buckhead and throughout the Fulton County area.

When a tooth is damaged from trauma, decay or extensive dental treatments, it can need extra support and protection. Dental crowns fit over the tooth and create a durable, functional covering for the tooth. Made of metals or ceramics, dental crowns can also be used to cover dental flaws or change the look of your smile. For decades, a dental crown required at least two visits to a dental office and an elaborate molding process. Now, with CEREC technology, dental crowns can be created the same day.

Traditional dental crowns were formed from molds made of the tooth and bite of the patient. Creating the mold was often uncomfortable for the patient – it required biting down on soft silicone material until the substance hardened into place. The mold then needed to be sent to a dental lab where a new crown was milled and then sent back to the dentist several days later. While the permanent crown was being made, the patient needed to be fitted for and wear a temporary crown.

With CEREC dental crowns, this long, inconvenient process is streamlined into one office visit. This new technology allows dental offices like ours to create our own beautiful ceramic dental crowns on-site. It is quicker and much easier on our patients that need a crown for a tooth repair or other services.

With CEREC You Can Have Your Crown in One Visit!

The process with CEREC dental crowns is fast and comfortable for our patients. First, we take digital images of the tooth and bite using advanced CEREC imagery. This specialized equipment creates a 3D blueprint that replaces the old physical molds used to make crowns. The image is sent to our CEREC milling equipment that creates the new ceramic crown. In about one hour, a beautiful white dental crown is ready to be fitted, bonded and polished into your smile.

CEREC dental crowns look great and are just as durable as the traditional crowns made at a dental lab. The only difference is the time that it takes to get your new crown. This technology allows us to serve our patients better, saving them time and trips to our office.

About that Same-Day Promise

While our office has the ability to provide a same-day crown (and most cases are), sometimes a patient’s dental health precludes the ability for a one-day solution. For instance, if the patient’s dental root is not healthy enough, adding a crown will not be the best treatment. Our doctors will advise if that is the case, and if so, then this situation will involve more than one visit.
