Starting Out the New Year With Good Oral Health ,

For many people, the New Year is a great time to get their lives in order and start new, healthier habits.  Some will start a new diet or an exercise routine in the New Year.  You may notice that your local gym gets very crowded in January.  Others will try to quit smoking or using tobacco products.  All these things are very positive and lead to a much healthier lifestyle and a better overall quality of life.

The New Year is also a great time to start taking better care of your teeth.  After all, your teeth and your dental health play a big role in both your overall health and your quality of life.  What you do now to take care of your teeth will determine how healthy they are in the future and how long they will last.  The best way to prevent dental problems such as  tooth decay, infection, gum disease and tooth loss is to get regularly scheduled dental cleanings and exams. Dental cleanings and exams are recommended every six months for most people.  If you have issues with your dental health, you may need to see a Dentist more often.

If you do not already have a family Dentist, the New Year is a great time to find one.  If you have been avoiding the Dentist or have failed to get needed dental treatment due to fear or anxiety, this is a great time to conquer your fear.  Many Dentists offer Oral Conscious Sedation Dentistry for patients with dental phobias.  Oral Conscious Sedation Dentistry enables Dentists to provide pain free, relaxing dental care in the comfort of a dental office setting.

The New Year is also a great time to get that smile that you have always wanted.  Advances in cosmetic dental procedures such as bonding, shaping, tooth whitening and porcelain veneers now make it possible for virtually everyone to have the smile of their dreams.   For more information about cosmetic dentistry and general dental care, talk to a qualified Dentist in your local area.  Happy New Year!
