What is CEREC and Why is it Important?

At Pure Dental, we use the latest and most technologically advanced equipment. CEREC stands for Ceramic Reconstruction and is a sophisticated system of designing and making high-quality dental restorations in one patient visit. Developed by Sirona, CEREC utilizes 3D photography and CAD/CAM technology to assist a dentist in designing a virtual restoration (onlay, inlay, crown, or bridge) without taking impressions and, when combined with a milling unit, is able to build the actual restoration while you are still in the chair.

Sure, it’s cool. But more important, and the one driving our decision to have one, was the value to you. In addition to cutting down on the number of visits and the time interval of waiting to get back from an outside lab, there’s no need for messy impressions, and there’s no need to wear a temporary crown for two weeks (that could possibly crack or break and result in even more office visits!). This all translates to savings of money and time for you.

Save Time, Smile Right – Same Day Crowns from Pure Dental

You don’t have to wait a week or longer to get a dental crown. If you live in Druid Hills, you have a source nearby for same day ceramic dental crowns. Pure Dental Health in Buckhead offers one-visit CEREC dental crowns for your convenience. No molds or temporary crowns are needed – you can walk out the same day with your new dental crown in place.

There are several reasons you may need a dental crown. If a tooth has undergone extensive dental treatments for decay or needed a root canal, the structure can be weakened. A crown is the best option to protect the tooth from further damage when too much material has been removed. Dental crowns are also used for cosmetic procedures to cover up dental flaws or to create a dental bridge to fill gaps of missing teeth. However, the traditional process of creating a crown can take a week or longer and requires some discomfort for the patient.

Crowns are usually made from metal, ceramics or a combination of both, from a mold of the tooth. To create the mold, the patient must endure holding the mold in their mouth until the silicone molding substance sets. This is usually sent off to a dental lab to create the crown, whether it is metal or ceramic, taking a week or longer. During the waiting period, the patient must be fitted for and wear a temporary crown. With CEREC technology, this process is streamlined and completed in one visit to our office.

Advanced Dental Technology for One-Visit Crowns

CEREC makes the process of designing, creating and fitting a new dental crown quick and painless. Instead of creating a mold of the tooth, advanced imaging equipment is used to create a 3D digital image of the tooth. This only takes a few minutes and is far less uncomfortable than the traditional mold process. Once the image is secured, it is sent to our on-site CEREC milling equipment. It only takes about one hour for the new ceramic crown to be milled and ready for placement.

While the crown is being made, you can enjoy the many amenities we have available for you at Pure Dental Health. There is a free beverage station and internet bar, along with blankets, pillows, flat screen TVs and noise-canceling headphones in your treatment room. You can sit back and relax while we prepare your new crown – your comfort is important to us whenever you visit our office.

Excellent and Convenient Dental Care

Once the crown is finished, our dental team will put it in place to ensure it is a perfect fit. After any needed adjustments, the new crown will be bonded onto your tooth and polished. Like traditional crowns, CEREC crowns are built to last for many years. We color-match the ceramic to your smile so your new crown looks and feels like a natural tooth.

Utilizing the latest technology to serve our patients is just one of the many reasons our patients choose to keep coming to Pure Dental Health. We have same day dental crowns, dental implants, porcelain veneers and many other specialized services on top of our high quality general dental care. About that Same-Day Promise

While our office has the ability to provide a same-day crown (and most cases are), sometimes a patient’s dental health precludes the ability for a one-day solution. For instance, if the patient’s dental root is not healthy enough, adding a crown will not be the best treatment. Our doctors will advise if that is the case, and if so, then this situation will involve more than one visit.
